Eligibility

VITA Eligibility: Individuals generally earning $75,000 or less, have disabilities, or are limited English-speaking taxpayers and need assistance preparing their tax returns.

EITC Eligibility: Individuals who have worked and earned under $63,398, have an investment income of $11,000 in the tax year 2023, are U.S. citizens or resident aliens all year, do not file Form 2555 Foreign Earned Income, and meet certain rules if you are separated from your spouse and not filing a joint tax return.

Application Instructions

Tax Preparation Services start on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 to Monday, April 15th, 2024. Appointment not required for some locations. Call the hotline (954) 964-8884, Ext. 3 for general program information (non-tax related) questions, details about site locations, schedules, and appointment scheduling information for sites that require such. Note that this is not a comprehensive list. Other documents may be required based on the information shared during the intake and interview process at the sites; or visit the website for details, locations, IRS updates, and more.

Required Documents: Birth dates for you, spouse, and dependents on the tax return

Copy of last year’s federal and state returns, if available

Direct Deposit info: for those who would like direct deposit of their refunds

Forms 1095-A, B or C: Affordable Health Care Statements

Form 1099-K: for those self-employed taxpayers who use debit, credit, or other 3rd party (e.g., cash app, Venmo, Zelle)

Health Insurance Exemption Certificate, if received

Pin # (for individuals who have been assigned one): Identity Theft letter from the IRS with your newly-issued PIN # (Pin # changes every year)

Social Security card or verification letter that includes the Social Security Number

W-2 forms for all jobs worked as applicable to the tax year you need to file
