Service Description

Provides a unique opportunity for low-income and at-risk students to escape the cycle of poverty through education by offering students caring volunteer mentors, student advocacy, college readiness, and college scholarships. These comprehensive services start in middle school, continue through high school, and include the first 18 months into college.    Individuals willing to mentor students are required to attend a training/fingerprinting session and are matched with a student who is located in the mentor's preferred area once they are trained and pass a level 2 security clearance. Mentors must make a commitment to donate at least 30 minutes per week to mentee at his/her school.

Eligibility

Students: Middle school aged youth from low-income families. Must receive free/reduced lunch, have a C or higher grade, good attendance and good conduct.
