Service Description

Informs the public about individuals with Alzheimer's Disease or a related disorder that may be lost driving a car. The public is informed through message signs on the highway. These lighted signs display the words "Silver Alert" and give the make, color, and license tag of the car being driven by the missing person.

Eligibility

Individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder drive a car and become lost.

Application Instructions

Caregivers are urged to call 911 to make a missing person report. They should have the following information: the name, age, and recent photograph of the car's make/color/license tag. There is no waiting period to make such a report for an individual with Alzheimer's or dementia. Local law enforcement will take necessary steps to activate Silver Alert signs on the Florida highways to locate and return the missing individual.
