AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF)

Provides sexually transmitted infections (STI) screening and treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and Human Immunodeficiency Viruses (HIV). Also offers information about STIs, safer sex, cryotherapy treatments for genital warts, and referrals to doctors specializing in HIV for persons who test positive. The testing process is confidential. AHF offers three HIV tests: Rapid HIV, Combination HIV and Nucleic acid test (NAT). A testing counselor will help patients determine which test is based on the window - the time between exposure to HIV and when a test can detect HIV. Additionally, it helps patients decide if PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis), a once-a-day pill to prevent contracting HIV, is right for them. The service also helps determine if PEP, or post-exposure prophylaxis, a short course of HIV medicines taken very soon after a possible exposure to HIV to prevent the virus from taking hold in the body, is the right choice. Patients must start PEP within 72 hours after exposure to HIV, or it won't work.
